Message of the Day: God’s Word Sustains Life

I will never forget Your precepts,
For by them You have given me life
.” Psalm 119:93 NKJV)

In previous verses we can read that during hard times the psalmist has wondered why God is silent and slow to act. He wrestles with the feeling of being useless. However, he still hopes and trust God’s steadfast love to save him from the schemes of his enemies. God’s Word is everlasting and unchangeable. His promises are true. Because of this he believes that God will rescue him.

The psalmist is determined to not forget the Word of God. There would never be a time that God’s precepts will slip his consciousness. The reason for this determination is found in the meaning of the word ‘quickened’ in the King James Version – “for them thou hast quickened me” (italics mine). In the original Hebrew it means to sustain life (Strong-lite). There we have it! The psalmist will never forget the Word of God because it sustains his life.

In the same way, let us not forget the Word of God for it brings nourishment, it sustains our life!
