Message of the Day: In life or in Death, We are in Christ.
“For to me to live is Christ and to die is gain.” (Philippians 1:21, NASB)
Paul was in prison most probably in Rome when he wrote this letter to the believers in Philippi. Though his imprisonment caused depression to some of the believers there, they however felt relieved knowing that Paul was still able to preach the Gospel even in prison. His imprisonment also gave his opponent the opportunity to pursue their selfish ambition. Paul was not totally angry with them. He is glad that they are still preaching the gospel even if it is from bad motive.
He is hopeful that one day he will be released from prison, but he was also very much aware of the possibility of execution. This thought caused him to feel less certain that he will be released. In view of these thoughts running in his mind, he declared that whether in freedom, in life or in death his goal is to bring honor to Christ. His joy is in Him and death will only increase that joy.
This is a reminder that in all seasons of our life, we are in Christ. Resentment has no place in our hearts because of the joy that Christ brings in us today and forever.
