Message of the Day: A Grateful Heart Shall Result in A Lifetime of Worship to the Lord
“I love the Lord, because He hears My voice and my supplications. Because He has inclined His ear to me, Therefore I shall call upon him as long as I live.” (Psalm 116:1-2, NASB)
The NASB Study Bible suggests that the first person singular pronoun “I” must have been used corporately. But some say that the writer is an individual worshipper. Despite this disagreement, it is clear that the Psalm talks about gratefulness as a result of God’s action in the past, that is, deliverance from bondage or death.

The worshipper (or worshippers) is about to bring a sacrifice to God but before he proceed with the offering, he paused and pondered on the great mercy and love of God and finds that his own love towards God increases when he recalls how God has answered his prayers and saved his life.
We find here an expression of love and gratitude in view of the mercies of God, and a pursuit of a lifetime of service and worship – a truly grateful heart will be evidenced by this kind of life pursuit.
We experience the same, when we look back and remember the goodness of God, our love for Him increases and our heart is filled with gratefulness, then we pledge to serve and worship him as long as we live.
