Message of the Day: God’s Word is the Living and Dynamic Agent of God.
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” (John 1:1, NKJV)
The Greeks used the term logos (word) not only of the spoken word but also of the unspoken word, that which still in the mind – the reason or the principle of reason in the universe, the rational principle that governs all things. Jews, on the other hand, used it as a way of referring to God.
John may have preserved this usage and used it to refer to God. It probably made sense to both Jews and Gentile readers of his gospel. The Word of God is the living and dynamic agent of God and was the means by which God created the heavens and the earth and everything in it.
The logos is not just like a person, but is a person – not ‘it’ but ‘he’. He is not just with God, he is God. It is distinct from the Father and is inseparable from Him.
