Message of the Day: Mary, A Humble Woman, from A Humble Home, in An Unpopular Village Was the Happiest of All the Women!
“And having come in, the Angel said to her, ‘Rejoice, highly favored one, the Lord is with you; blessed are you among women!” (Luke 1:28, NKJV)
The Messiah is supposed to be born into David’s family. It had been 1000 years since the time of David, and there had come to be thousands of families of Davidic descent. However, God bypassed the ruling families around Jerusalem and instead chose a humble woman, from a humble home, in an unpopular village in the remote hills of Galilee to be the mother of Jesus.

This announcement came six months after Gabriel appeared to Zechariah in the temple in Jerusalem, the same angel appeared to Mary. She was engaged to be married to a man named Joseph.
In the Greek language of the New Testament the word ‘blessed‘ means happy or happiest. Thus, Mary was the happiest woman on earth upon hearing the angel’s message. No wonder she burst into a joyful hymn of praise and magnified the Lord in the presence of Elizabeth.
Be blessed you who are humble and insignificant!
