Message of the Day: Simeon’s Spiritual Insight about the True Person of Christ.
“For my eyes have seen Your salvation which You have prepared before the face of all peoples, a light to bring revelation to the Gentiles, and the glory of Your people Israel.” (Luke 2:30-32, NKJV)
Luke 2:29-32 is a hymn of Simeon called the Nunc Dimittis, from the first words of the Latin Vulgate translation, meaning “Now…You are releasing.”

In separate incidents at the temple, two people recognized Jesus as the Messiah. First was Simeon, “this man was righteous and devout, looking for the consolation of Israel; and the Holy Spirit was upon him. And it had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he would not see death before he had seen the Lord’s Christ” (Luke 2: 26-27, NASB). Simeon received spiritual insight about the true person of Christ. He acknowledged that Jesus was the Promised Messiah, and that he would bring glory to his nation Israel and salvation to the Gentiles (Luke 2:25-32).
