Message of the Day: A Time to Remind Ourselves of the Physical and Spiritual Blessings God has Given Us.
“Bless the Lord, O my soul; and all that is within me. Bless his holy name! Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his blessings!” (Psalm 103:1-2)
This is a song of joyous praise, in which the writer rises from a thankful acknowledgement of personal blessings to a lively celebration of God’s gracious attributes, as not only intrinsically worthy of praise, but as specially suited to man’s frailty. He concludes by invoking all creatures to unite in his song.
‘O my soul‘ is a conventional Hebrew way of addressing oneself. Realizing how easily people forget God, David reminds himself of the many blessings, physical and spiritual, that God has given him. Gratefully, he praises God for them all.
Before the year ends, let us remind ourselves of the blessings we have received from God just like what David did.
