Message of the Day: The Eternity of God and the Brevity of Human Life
“So teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.” (Psalm 90:12, NKJV)
If in the past we live to please ourselves. We do not pay attention to the warning from God’s word and we do not consider that we are spending our lives building up God’s judgment against us.
Our prayer is that we may know or understand, and deeply consider our frailty, so as properly to number or appreciate the shortness uncertainty of our days, that we may acquaint ourselves with God, be wise, live for eternity and be at peace.
Let us allow God to enable us to account our life, that we may be able to act as if we saw the whole of life, or as we should do if we saw its end. Only God sees the end, yet he can enable us to act as if we saw it for ourselves; to have the same objects before us, and make as much of life, as if we saw when and how it would close.
If anyone knew when, and where, and how he was to die, it might be presumed that this would exert an important influence on him in forming his plans, and on his general manner of life.
