Message of the Day: God’s Mercy is Beyond Human Understanding.
“For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways,” says the Lord. “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, And My thoughts than your thoughts.” (Isaiah 55:8-9, NKJV)
Many Jews had made life comfortable in exile in Babylon. The prophet Isaiah knew that they were so settled that they might not want to uproot themselves and face the hardships of life back in their homeland. Many were more concerned with maintaining the easier life than knowing God and trusting Him for their daily provision. God’s blessings are free and more satisfying than the temporary benefits that people can give (Isa. 55:1-2).
When God’s people respond to His purposes for them, His blessings will extend far beyond the boundaries of the restored nation of Israel. When they take God’s message to other nations, to people who do not know God eventually follow Him, they will see the fulfillment of the covenant promises and blessings beyond their expectation (Isa. 55:3-5). However, they must first turn from their sin and return to God. If they do, He will forgive them according to his mercy. This mercy is so vast and is beyond human understanding (Isa. 3-7).
This brings us to a realization that if we will humble ourselves before God and repent of our sins, we will be cleansed by his great mercy and will receive his immeasurable blessings. What God has prepared for us is far greater than we have ever imagined (Isa. 55:8-9).
