Message of the Day: Suffering For the Sins of Others!
“Surely He has borne our griefs And carried our sorrows; Yet we esteemed Him stricken, Smitten by God, and afflicted.” (Isaiah 53:4, NKJV)
Chapter 53 of the book of Isaiah is one of the best-loved chapters in all the Bible. It is a picture of the Suffering Servant. The pericope starts at 52:13 and was written seven centuries before Jesus’ death on the Cross. It speaks of the redeeming work of Yahweh’s suffering servant. No wonder the New Testament sees the fulfillment of this passage in Jesus Christ.
Some of those who see the servant’s intense suffering think that he is being punished by God for his own sins. But one will realize that the suffering is caused by the sins of others. It is because of their sins that the servant suffers and dies.
It seems easy for some to mock and put the blame on others only to realize at the end, that many of their fellowmen suffer because of the recklessness and the wrongs done by other people.
