Message of the Day: Do Not Look At The Outward Appearance Of Man For God Looks At The Heart.
But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not look at his appearance or at his physical stature, because I have refused him. For the Lord does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.” (1 Samuel 16:7, NKJV)

Samuel anoints Jesse’s youngest son, David. Anointing was a way of marking out people for other important positions besides kingship, and Samuel gave no indication to the onlookers why he had anointed David. The anointing meant that David has to be prepared as the successor of Saul.
Samuel almost made a huge mistake by thinking that Eliab must have been God’s anointed (v.v.1-5). God immediately corrects Samuel’s thoughts, he is not to focus on the outward characteristics of man or the height – physical features which had characterized Saul.
