Message of the Day: The Just Shall Live By Faith!
For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, “The just shall live by faith.” (Romans 1:17, NKJV)

The expression, “The just shall live by faith” is a quote from Habakuk 2:4. It is also quoted in Galatians 3:11 and Hebrews 10:38. Habakkuk prophesied in the period when the Babylonians were sweeping westward and was about to lay siege on Judah. So, within that particular context, “the just shall live by his faith”, refers the righteous who will survive the destruction (judgment) because they have faith.
In the New Testament, those who believed in the words of Christ pertaining to the destruction of Jerusalem by the Romans fled when they saw them coming and hid themselves in Pella of Coelesyria and were saved. Those who did not believe Jesus and ignored his words were either killed or made slaves.
Paul, in Romans 1:17, takes this kind of faith to another dimension. This time it is relative to our salvation and being right with God, which we can attain only by the application of that faith. It is only through living by faith that we receive the status of being righteous with God.
