Message of the Day: Praise for God’s Deliverance
Text: Psalm 9:1-20
Key Verses: Psalm 9:1-2
“I will praise You, O Lord, with my whole heart;
I will tell of all Your marvelous works.
I will be glad and rejoice in You;
I will sing praise to Your name, O Most High.” (NKJV)
Psalm 9, together with Psalm 10, forms an acrostic: the initial letters of successive verses follow the order of the Hebrew alphabet. It may have been used as an aid to memory. Psalm 9 is predominantly praise for God’s deliverance from hostile nations. It concludes with a short prayer for God’s continuing righteous judgments .
David expresses his praise to God because of a notable victory that God has given Israel over its enemies. This victory illustrates God’s perfect justice in upholding what is right and his unfailing love in caring for those who trust him.
Just like David, let us recall how we are tested and attacked by the devil, with gratitude let us recall how we prayed desperately in the crisis and promised to offer a public testimony and praise to God when we come out victorious. We are sure of this, that God will punish the wicked and care for the faithful.
