Message of the Day: God is the God of Justice. He is Patient, but He will Punish
For we know Him who said, “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,” says the Lord. And again, “The Lord will judge His people.” It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God. (Hebrews 10:30-31, NKJV)

Another fearful warning against falling away from Christ, similar to that in 6:1–8. Addressed to Christians who had once been “publicly exposed to insult and persecution” in their sufferings for the name of Christ, and who had given their all in their compassion for their fellow sufferers. But some of these very same people were now losing interest in the things of Christ.
The point is that there has been one sacrifice for sin. There will never be another. Those who will not avail themselves of what Christ has done for them on the cross may as well make up their minds to say good-bye to God forever, and go their own way, and suffer for their own sin (vv. 26-31).
God is the God of justice. He is patient, but he will punish. To fall into the hands of God is to fall under his displeasure, and he who lives forever can punish forever. How dreadful to have the displeasure of an eternal, almighty being to rest on the soul for ever!
