Message of the Day: The Fear of the Lord Brings Wisdom and Spices Up Our Commitment to Him!
“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom,
And the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.” (Proverbs 9:10, NKJV)
The “fear of the Lord” means ‘respect’, ‘reverence’, or ‘piety.’ it is the principle of true piety or righteousness. It signifies that religious reverence which every intelligent being owes to his Creator. The beginning of wisdom is found in the temper of reverence and admiration.
Whether we desire wisdom depends largely upon the character we have developed in ourselves over the years. When we grow puffed-up in our opinions and blind to our failures, we usually react with bitterness when criticized. Those who are wise welcome criticism and so increase their wisdom.
We are responsible individually for our own gain or loss of wisdom. Everything depends on whether we are willing to learn from God. The fear of the Lord inspires and invigorate our commitment to him. The sense of God’s glorious presence will inspire a higher tone of worship, will give a deeper humility to our confessions, and add a manifold passion to our prayers.
