Message of the Day: Mary, the Happiest of All Women!
Now in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent by God to a city of Galilee named Nazareth, to a virgin betrothed to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David. The virgin’s name was Mary. And having come in, the angel said to her, “Rejoice, highly favored one, the Lord is with you; blessed are you among women!” (Luke 1:26-28, NKJV)

This event is also called the Annunciation or the announcement to Mary. The Messiah was to be born into David’s family. It had been 1000 years since the time of David, and there had come to be thousands of families of Davidic descent. God, in choosing the one family through whom His Son should come into the world, bypassed the ruling families around Jerusalem and instead went to a humble woman, from a lowly home, in an obscure village in the distant hills of Galilee.
The Annunciation happened six months after the angel Gabriel appeared to Zechariah in the temple of Jerusalem to announce that his wife Elizabeth will bear a son (1:5-25). The same angel appeared to Mary to announce that she will conceive and give birth to a son. She was from Nazareth, a town in Galilee.
Mary was indued with special honor to be the mother of the long-expected Messiah. What a woman she must have been to be thus chosen of God to impart and mold the human nature of His Son! And how her heart must have thrilled at the angelic message that she was to be the mother of the divine King of the ages! (Luke 1:26-38)
For being chosen to give birth to our Redeemer, our divine king, Mary was the most happy (blessed) of all women.
