Message of the Day: The Rule of Greatness!
And He sat down, called the twelve, and said to them, “If anyone desires to be first, he shall be last of all and servant of all.” (Mark 9:35, NKJV)
Jesus equates greatness with servanthood. He gives disciples its rule: “If any man would be first he shall be last of all, and the servant of all.”
Despite Jesus’ statement to his disciples that he was heading towards humiliating suffering and death (Mark 9:30-32), they were arguing among themselves about who would have the important places in his kingdom. Jesus rebuked them, explaining that the way to spiritual greatness is through choosing the lowest place and serving others.
Great are those who are prepared to take the last and lowest place and serve others.
