Message of the Day: Mutual Love: The Truest Evidence of Being God’s Children
“For this is the message that you heard from the beginning, that we should love one another…” (1 John 3:11, NKJV)
John’s recipients had the message of love for the brotherhood from the beginning of the gospel and it goes back to the time of Cain and Abel.
Since we do what is right and refuse what is wrong, our lives will be characterized by love. But the world does not respond kindly to our goodness, just as Cain did not respond kindly to Abel’s. (1 John 3:11-13). To “love one another” is essentially necessary to our comfort and well-being in this state of trial and difficulty. We are dependent each other. Mutual love makes this dependence pleasant and profitable. Nothing can be more pleasant to us than to communicate acts of kindness.
Loving each other as Christ loved us is the truest evidence of being God’s children. Not loving the brothers and sisters is equal to hating them.
