Message of the Day: Love Prompts Us To Do Good!
For the commandments, “You shall not commit adultery,” “You shall not murder,” “You shall not steal,” “You shall not bear false witness,” “You shall not covet,” and if there is any other commandment, are all summed up in this saying, namely, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” Love does no harm to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfillment of the law. (Romans 13:9-10, NKJV)
Love of neighbor encompasses all our social responsibilities. Although in Luke 10:25-37, Jesus taught that our neighbor is anyone in need, we should have good relations with anyone else in society, not just because the law tells us to, but because God’s love has changed us within.
If we love our fellow human being, it would prevent all fraud, injustice, oppression, falsehood, adultery, murder, theft, and covetousness. If every one of us would do to others as we would wish them to do to us, all the design of the law would be at once fulfilled. Love seeks to do good; it would prompt to justice, truth, and benevolence. Indeed, “Love is the fulfillment of the law.”
