Chronology of the 1986 EDSA People Power Revolution
On February 25, Filipinos will commemorate the anniversary of the 1986 EDSA People Power Revolution. EDSA stands for Epifanio de los Santos Avenue, one of the major thoroughfares around Metro Manila, Philippines. On February 22-25, 1986 the highway was used by protesters led by then Defense Minister Gen. Juan Ponce Enrile and Vice Chief of Staff Gen. Fidel Ramos. The two defected from the Marcos government and called for the strongman’s resignation. The protest was known as EDSA People Power Revolution.
