Message of the Day: Those Who Have Pure Motives Will Never Go Astray
“Do they not go astray who devise evil? But mercy and truth belong to those who devise good.” (Proverbs 14:22, NKJV)
Good people may prosper and evil people may suffer loss, but outward appearances do not tell the full story. Hidden within the heart there may be a joy or a sadness that no one can share. Those who believe anything, who throw away caution, or who act in quick temper are only increasing their folly. The wicked may have a secret respect for those who are genuinely good, but they despise the poor, because they know they can get nothing from them. (Prov. 14:19-21)
Proverbs 14:22 urges pure motives. It is difficult at times to convince a person that he has mistaken the road to happiness. Some would say, No man can judge a person of what he thinks is best for himself. If man had no other law to follow in the pursuit of happiness than the dictates of his own motives, then this reasoning would be just. However, in connection with the moral course and conduct of a man’s life, the way has been laid down for him; how he must walk, and where. Of course the wicked would reject and deny that; they indeed err, they wander, they go astray!
On the other hand, those who give careful thought to their actions, those who have pure motives will surely win the favor and mercy of God! They will never go astray!
