Message of the Day: Teach the Children to Love God and Keep His Commands!
“And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up.” (Deuteronomy 6:6-7, NKJV)

Israel was commanded to “Love the lord your God all your heart and with all your soul, and with all your strength.” This is part of the Jewish confession of faith called as Shema (Heb. “hear,” v. 4)). Furthermore, the Israelites were not to rely only on public instruction to keep God’s ideas and knowledge of him alive among his people; they were to teach them diligently at home. (Deut. 6:1-9, NKJV)
No matter how strong our determination to do right, we would be unable to keep God’s law unless we first had a strong and genuine love for God himself. Love for him would give us the inner power to walk in his ways. As well as keeping God’s commandments ourselves, we had to teach our children to do likewise. Our family life was to be guided by the knowledge of God’s law. Our house was to be known as a place of where people loved God’s law and lived by it.
