Message of the Day: God is Faithful
“Therefore know that the Lord your God, He is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and mercy for a thousand generations with those who love Him and keep His commandments..” (Deuteronomy 7:9, NKJV)

Israel’s responsibility was to destroy the people of Canaan along with everything connected with their religion, so that nothing would remain in the land that might corrupt God’s people. Israel’s favored place as God’s chosen people was not an excuse for them to do as they liked, but a reason for them to avoid corruption and be holy. If they were disobedient, they would surely be punished. But if they were obedient, they would enjoy the blessings of national growth, agricultural prosperity and good health. (7:1-16)
It is God’s will that we remain faithful and obedient to him, that we continue to faithfully dispense our responsibilities as his children. But given our frailty, this will be unrealistic. Thus, this passage reminds us that God will remain faithful to his promise. He will certainly continue to be faithful. This truth shall draw us closer to him and shall increase our love to him. It shall make us humble in his sight.
