Message of the Day: Return to Jesus, the Shepherd and Protector of Life
“You were like sheep that went the wrong way. But now you have come back to the Shepherd and Protector of your lives.” (1 Peter 2:25, ERV)
The image of Israel as sheep was common in the Old Testament. God is the chief shepherd of his people he is the “overseer” or the “guardian” who watches over and protects his sheep.
We were like a flock without a shepherd. We had wandered far away from the true fold, and were following our own paths. We were without a protector, and were exposed to every kind of danger. But we have returned to Christ our “Shepherd” and “Protector.” He came to seek and save those who were lost. He knows our desires, wishes, and dangers, and provides for us. He leads us to the best pastures, defends us from our enemies, and guides us by his eyes.
