Message of the Day: The Power of Christ’s Love
“For the love of Christ compels us, because we judge thus: that if One died for all, then all died; and He died for all, that those who live should live no longer for themselves, but for Him who died for them and rose again.” (2 Corinthians 5:14-15, NKJV)
Because Paul knows that he is accountable to Christ, he knows what it means to fear the Lord, and this makes him more diligent in his service. God knows that his motives are pure and he trusts that the Corinthians know also. In making these statements, Paul is not trying to write a recommendation for himself. he is trying to give his supporters reason to be bold in defending him against those who criticize him. They may have seen him display his feelings in different ways at various times, but they know he never acted out of self-interest.
Our constant awareness of Christ’s love is our inner spiritual power that guides our action. Christ died the death of sinners should have died, firstly to bear the penalty of their sins, and secondly to put an end to living for ourselves. From now we should live for him.
